Dresden Files Review

Dresden Files is quickly becoming my 2nd favorite show on TV behind Heroes.

Last night's show was easily the best of the 3 so far.
He tracks down a werewolf and it is a doozy. It shows him doing lots of magic in this show as compared to almost none in the previous 2.

Start with having Bob *read* someone's blood and make him look like that person.
Then he uses a mirror and turns back time on what the mirror reflected, so he could look at it.
Then when in jail, he used a drumstick to open the cell and make an illusion of him being in the cell.

Really excellent show.

The only problem I had with it, is he tends to get *too close* to his clients. I'm not sure if it was that way in the books, I don't remember that. Maybe those who've read the books more can shed some light on that. Seems like he wants to be everyone's big brother, or lover.

It definetely had some nice twists in it.

I did get a bit confused at the end, did they give the cure to the FBI cop before they had her commited. Why couldn't they have given the cure to the other girl?

These werewolfs were nasty but nothing like from Van Helsing. The one FBI agent had killed 8, and Dresden beat off one by hitting it with a statue or something. But thats ok, just a weaker werewolf.

But I really thought the story was interesting. FBI cop goes to Bosnia and gets Lycanthropy. Her lover finds a cure, but it requires the blood, teeth and hair of 9 other werewolfs. So they go around infecting and killing different victims. Then take on the case of the serial killers, so they can pin it on whomever is convenient. And if no one is, then they can just leave it as unsolved, when the serial killer stops after 9.

Very cool. If you haven't checked it out yet, I do recommend it.

Until next time...

In the books, Harry Dresden is portrayed as chivalrous to a fault. He does care about everyone and wants to make everyone's life better. In particular for women, in the books he feels like he has to do things like lie to Murphy to keep her safe..which ends up being stupid, but he feels like he has to.

Maybe a bit overdone, but then it is based on Sam Spade detective novels.

Hopefully enlightening, not annoying.

Ok, then they are keeping him to character in the books, which I'm glad of.
I was afraid they were overdoing it. He often keeps Murphy in the dark because he knows how rediculous it would sound if he told her, and that part makes sense.

Ok, I missed that in the books, but like I said, its been a few years since I picked one up. Maybe time to go back and read a couple.

Sounds to me like they are playing it to a tee. And that is not annoying, but enlightening.

Thanks.
