BR: Beasts vs Wood Elves part 1
After the crushing defeat of the Lizardmen, Ratspawn found his way blocked by stunties once again. But this time these dwarfs seemed to prefer the trees and fought as elf-things in the woods fight. Most curious indeed.
That did not matter. Setrad had been given a vision. To travel south and fight in the chaos fields known as the Boyou. Only then would the council of 13 accept him as the reincarnation of the Great Horned One. These pesky stunties needed to move aside.

Another league game and this time against a proxy army. He uses a wood elf list and dwarfs to represent them. It was easy to keep track as he had mostly dryads and wardancers.
We rolled 6 pieces of terrain, again, and of those 6 we got 3 woods, 2 hills and some rocky terrain. Great.
But after we set up terrain, there was only 1 woods that would really take part in the battle.
I brought my list that I'm taking to the Boyou:
Ratspawn the REincarnated (Doombull, und, hvy armor, shield, hellfire sword)
Master Moulder Grubslob (Wargor, gr.weapon, und)
Harbringer of Mutation Setrad (Shaman und, lvl 2, staff of darkoth, d.scroll, beast)
Harbringer of Mutation Sutinrot (Shaman und, lvl 2, braystaff, d.scroll, death)
Ratspawns body guard (5 Minotaurs, und, champ, standard, gr.weapon)
4 Rat Ogres ( 4 Minos, und, gr.weapons )
4 Rat Ogres ( 4 Minos, und, gr.weapons )
3 Rat Ogres ( 3 Minos, und, gr.weapons )
3 Rat Ogres ( 3 Minos, und, gr.weapons )
6 Giant Rats ( 6 chaos hounds )
5 Giant Rats (5 chaos hounds)
5 Giant Rats (5 chaos hounds)
2 x Rat Carts (Beast chariots)
2 x Mutant clanrats with handlers
(7 gors w/ex hws, 6 ungors with spears, full command)
5 Cloud Runners ( 5 Chaos furies)
2 Failed Rat Ogres (2 chaos spawn, slaanesh)
Here is a pick of the deployment:

This is kind of a weird angle but was the best option for taking the pics.
If you check out my deployment, the herd on the right is mostly cut off. But you can check out the completed spawn.
You can also see my Temple Structure on the board next to the woods on the left.
My opponents army looked like this from right to left:
12 Wardancers with champ, musc (hmmm, looking at his list, this should have been 10)
16 Dryads (the mechanical robot guys)
11 Wardancers with champ, musc (again, 10)
With Lvl 2 bladesinger, d.scroll, horn of Asrai
Unit of 26 Eternal guard, full command.
Lord on elf steed, Rhymers harp, annoyance of netlings
Lvl 1 wizard, d.scroll, broach of re-roll failed psych tests.
Unit of 17 Glade guard with standard, musician
Lvl 1 wizard w/d.scroll w/starfire arrows.
(He has a league resource called archery school, that allows the unit to fire in multiple ranks. Thus the ranked up 4 deep.)
8 dryads
11 Wardancers, champ, musc (again should have been 7)
He then placed 7 scouts, in the woods.
Since he was the home player he already had 2300 points to my 2250. But with the extra 7 wardancers it was closer to 2420 points.

So an uphill battle once again.
We rolled for spells.
Setrad got: Beast: 1, 6 (bears anger, the movement spell, and had wild call)
Sutinrot got: Death: 1,2 (dark hand MM, and drain life)
He rolled and got:
Lvl 2: 1, 3 (wood sing, hidden path)
Lvl 1: 1 (wood sing)
Lvl 1: 4 (twilight host)
We rolled for objectives and again we get a 5. 1 open objective worth 400 vp. Since this was round 7, the negative values for failing were gone.
He drew kill highest level wizard. Since mine were even, he rolls and gets Setrad.
I draw preserve. The original card said keep 75% of your US alive. But in practice games, we felt that was insane and changed it to 50%. Still a chore for this army.
I have a US of 140. So I need to keep US 70 alive to achieve my objective.
We rolled and he won the right to decide what to do.
He chose to go first.
Stay tuned for part 2, coming soon.
Until next time...

Spawns look fantastic and your guy on the rock base in the back looks great gazing out over his troops.
Nice.
Thanks. The guy on the rock, is Setrad, that I posted not too long ago. He was very shiney at the time. Since this battle, I hit him with some dull cote and I think he looks great now.
I'll be posting up pics of the spawn by the end of the week, I hope.
Your army is looking good Ben I look forward to seeing it this weekend.
That Orc & Goblin army next to yours looks pretty ragged. What don't you tell that kid to paint his army, he will not listen to me. ;-)
