I have been playing Warhammer since 2nd Edition way back in 1983. I've run many different armies including Dwarfs, Empire, Wood Elves, Skaven, Chaos, Lizardmen, Beastmen, Sylvania Vampires, Orcs & Goblins and Bretonians. I am currently playing my Skaven while I finish painting my Beastman Doombull list.

I think it is 7 if that was before the drop-ship crew was killed. If it after the drop-ship has crashed I think it is 5.

None right so far. It is before the drop ship went down Andy.
This is when they are still in the ATV talking about what to do and eventually they decide to take off and nuke the place from orbit.

So that's Gorman, Hicks, Hudson,Vasquez they're marines + civils Burke, Ripley, Newt and Bishop, that should be all

I guess I lost track of the question. The number of Marines that were left was 6.

Your getting very close but no cigar yet.
You got 6 of the marines and the 3 civies. That however, does not answer the question.
Here is the final hint. There were 8 marines still alive at that point.
Hudson, Hicks, Gorman, Vasquez, Ripley, two marines from Drop Ship and alive Sgt. with the alien inside :)

Yes it was:
1.Gorman
2.Hicks
3.Hudson
4.Vasquez
5.Spunkmeyer (in drop ship)
6.Ferro (in drop ship)
7.Apone (Sarge) captured, not dead
8.Drake, also captured not dead.
Not 100% sure on Drake, but I know there was 2 and I know it was Sarge. Pretty sure it was Drake, but it might have been Dietrich.
I would have taken either.
And it led to the famous lines:
"Then we go back in there and get them."
"I'm not sure if you've been keeping up with current events but we just got our asses kicked."
