Here come more 7th ed

Alright I know you guys have been holding your breaths, so here we go with another half dozen:

1. A brand new weapon called the morning star. A smaller version of the flail, it gives you +1 strength in the first round of combat and only takes 1 hand. Very similar to a Choppa. I can't see this as that useful a weapon, probably more of a cavalry option to replace some units with flails. Mounted Chaos Marauders would be my guess.

2. They have totally revamped the monster reaction table. There are no horrible ones left on there, like flee the table, or charge the nearest guys, even your own.
I don't have the book in front of me now, but on 1-2 they go stupid, 3-4 they become unbreakable, 5-6 they will hunt down the enemy and charge when possible. Something like that, but like I mentioned, there are no really bad options left on the chart.

3. They have now finally clarified what you do when you are charged by multiple chargers. No more, figure out the perpendicular angle, etc... You flee the larger US unit that charges you. So this could lead you fleeing directly into the 2nd charger making it an auto kill situation.

4. If one unit breaks multiple units. He may catch them both. Great example, 2 block units side by side. Chariot charges both of them (haven't quite figured out if this is legal or not.) He gets impact hits on both units. Rolls double 6's with scythes we have 14 str 5 hits and ends up killing 10. Breaks both units who roll 7" and 8" to flee. Chariot pursues and rolls 10". Both units are wiped out. Ouch.
The only time you have to decide who you pursue is if they are on different sides. Say I have a unit on your front and a skirmishing unit on your flank. Both my units break. You have to decide to pursue to the front or to the flank. You can't catch both if they are going in different directions.

5. This one has been rumored around but I thought I would clarify it. You have no psychology affects at all in combat with the exceptions of frenzy, hatred & if you lose to a fear causer. Once you are in combat, you do not take panic tests, fear tests, terror tests, or stupidity tests. You are immune to all of them. The only test you will ever make if you are in combat is a break test.
Most of the rumors floating around just talked about no panic tests, so I wanted to clarify it.

6. Stupid is completely different. If a unit fails stupid, the characters are not stupid but must stumble forward with the unit. And since they moved in the cumpulsory phase, may not leave the unit. If a character goes stupid, the unit goes stupid with him, and they all stumble forward.
It looks like it points out in a round about way, a 2nd character, say a wizard, in the unit doesn't actually go stupid and could still cast spells.
If the unit fails stupid and stumbles into the enemy, it is a charge and the unit is immediately, NOT stupid any longer and everyone may fight normally.
Same if you are stupid and they charge you. And of course you don't roll if you start the turn in combat.

Hope you find these interesting. I have more than a dozen more to report that I found in my first read through the book. This weekend I'm going to read it again.

The morning star is in the current book. But almost nothing in the game has the ability to take one.

hahaha, yea I think your right. I forgot all about it. When I saw it in this book I thought, "now I've never seen that before, it must be new."

Oh well. Keep me on my toes. ;)

The unridden monster chart was OK the way it was. Why'd they change it?

If a chariot somehow collided with two units why would that double the impact hits? That makes no sense. The chariot does not magically [!] double its frontage so the number of impact hits it dishes out, which are based on its size/bulk, should remain constant.

If the hits apply to two units why would you do anything but split them as evenly as possible?

Hey, I just report what I read, I don't try to understand their thinking. But it specifically gives the example of a chariot hitting 2 units and doing full impact hits to both.

Why'd they change it? I have no idea??
