Back for More 7th ed. Changes

Ok, here are a few more of those noted changes I was talking about.

1. Pistols: Can no longer be fired in combat. Instead they are used as hand weapons.
If you have a pistol though, you may stand and shoot no matter how close your opponent starts its charge.
And if you have a brace of pistols, ie, more than 1, you may rapid fire them, taking 2 shots per shooting phase. Obviously with the -1 to hit for multi-shot.

2. Unlike what some rumors stated, I found nothing that would allow a Giant or other large creature to charge around a unit. They are allowed 1 spin during the charge, just like they did before. They can make that at any point, but cannot make multiple spins.

3. They do have some interesting rules on allowing Skirmishers to charge around other units that are between them and their target. They show examples with arrows going around the interposting unit.

4. Flyers always flee with their 3d6 fly move. And if they are to land in an enemy unit, impassable terrain or in the woods. They are auto-destroyed.
When pursuing, they may choose to use their foot move (possibly 2d6) or their 3d6. If they pursue and would land on woods or impassable terrain, they are landed right before it.
If their flight pursue move takes them into a unit, they may run into it and be considered charging, or fly over it. If they would land on them, they run into them and are considered charging. It does sound like it is possible that if you were to fly over several units, you may pick the one you wish to hit and overrun into.

5. Champions are now free to move within a unit the same as a character. So I read this as a champion may move to a flank or the rear to fight in a combat there.

6. BSBs are now dropped the same as regular standards when a unit breaks and runs. And are captured if the unit pursues. This is much different than 6th ed, where you had to kill the BSB and either break his unit that turn or kill them to a man that turn. Making it nigh impossible to capture the BSB.
Now it is no tougher than capturing any other standard.

Well, that is it for now. I hope you guys are enjoying this glimpse into the changes coming out next week. I have another dozen or so to share with you.

Stay tuned.
