Twins of Khorne verse the 4 Horsemen: Battle Report

I got to fight a battle last weekend against a very cool army idea. It is based on the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. It was a chaos undivided mortals list.

Undivided = Death
Khorne = War
Slaanesh = Famine
Nurgle = Pestilence.

My army, Twins of Khorne:
Exalted of Khorne, Sword of Might, gaze of gods, chaos steed, shield, general
Exalted of Khorne, Rending sword, enchanted shield, chaos steed

4 units of 5 Knights of Khorne, standard, mus
4 units of 5 Marauder Horsemen, Flails, throw axes, mus
2 units of 6 Centigors, LA, Shield, Spear, throw axes, mus
2 units of 5 Dogs of War, Bow, shields, mus

My opponents army:
Exalted Hero undivided, Sword of Might, Gaze of gods, chaos steed, shield, general
(death)
Exalted of Khorne, Helm of strike first, flail, shield, chaos steed
(war)
Exalted of Slaanesh, Whip of +1A ASF, chaos steed, shield
(famine)
Exalted of Nurgle, Blade of Blood, enchanted shield, chaos steed
(pestilence)

5 Chosen Knights of Chaos undivided, full command
5 Knights of Khorne, full command, blood rage banner
5 Knights of Slaanesh, full command
5 Knights of Nurgle, full command

4 Spawn (1 undivided, 1 Khorne, 1 Nurgle, 1 slaanesh)
4 units of 6 chaos warhounds.

Here is the initial setup: (Click on the images to Enlarge)

He had his Famine troops on the far left, his Death with hounds on the far right.
In the middle he had all 4 spawn with the Nurgle behind them and Khorne to the right of them.

Of my troops, the blue ones are the Marauder Horsemen. The pink are my Dogs of War fast cav. The brown with the arrows are the centigors. The other 4 units are knights of Khorne. The red guys are the heroes. The stars are the generals.

Turn 1: He moves up a little everywhere. He has no magic and no shooting. So just move and fight.

My turn 1: Centigors on left cannot hold their liquor and become mean drunks. They charge and hit the Famine Knights. Only to have the hero swing first, and kill 3 of them. They do take one down but they are completely wiped out. (shown by the skulls and 'X')
On the right my marauders charged the hounds. The hounds flee through the knights and actually hit both other hound units as well. Hoping for a ton of panics, he passes every roll.
I then should have stopped the marauders before they hit the knights, but like an idiot I have them hit, hoping to kill a knight and tie them up for a bit. No, instead they are just completely wiped out. Ouch!!

I move everyone else as shown. throwing axes at the Pestilence Spawn does 2 wounds at it, and more axes at the War knights and kill 1. Sweet. My arrows kill 1 hound.

His Turn 2: On the left, he just moves up a bit with his Famine knights and does not take the fast cav bait. He moves his hero to the end getting ready for my knight charge.

On the right his wounded hounds charge my Centigors. The centigors stand and throw their axes, killing 2 more. The hounds pass their panic, hit the centigors. Both sides whiff in the combat, but the hounds are outnumbered, break and flee. The Centigors catch them, wiping them out and overrun into the hounds behind them.

the fleeing hounds from last turn, fail to rally and run off the board.
He moves his last hounds up to bait my knights.

In the middle, his Death Spawn moves 5" and hits my marauders. The Pestilence spawn moves only 3" and fails to hit them. I wanted to be able to throw at them in hopes of killing it. Instead I stand (again another dumb move) and shoot at the Death spawn. I do nothing, and he kills 4 in combat. Needing snake eyes not to break, I make it. WOW!! But was that a good thing?

His War knights charge my marauders who flee and get away. But his knights are in a bad spot until the Famine spawn jumps out 16" and gets in the way. The War spawn moves up baiting my hero and knights.

My Turn 2: On the left, I just maneuver my guys a bit trying to get to the Famine knights flank. Throw axes and kill 1 knight. He knows he can't screw around.

On the right, my far right DoW and chaos knights both charge the hounds. The hounds flee a long way, get away from the knights, but the DoW fast cav gets to move straight up and catch them, wiping them out. Hoping for a panic on his general's unit, he passes.
Other DoW move up to block him off from his charge he wanted to make. Oh so sad!!
Centigors kill all but 1 hound who flees off the board, Centigors restrain.

Now the middle. My knights with hero charge the War Spawn in the center. The hero with Rending sword does 4 wounds before I even get to roll for the extra wounds. 1 dead spawn.
I overrun and I hit both the death spawn and wounded pestilence spawn at the same time. So we set everything up. Fight a new combat, kill the pestilence spawn. But cannot kill the death one. Manage a wound on it. But am stuck.

And finally the biggest combat of the turn. My khorne knights charge the famine spawn. If I can do 3 wounds to it, and overrun I can block the upcoming flank charge on my hero. Or even hit his unit and get the initiative.

I roll and only manage 2 wounds. Ugghhh!! So I'm stuck there.
The fleeing marauders rallied.

His turn 3: On the left he decides he cannot put it off any longer. He charges and the marauders run and get away, actually running through my recently rallied horsemen. Pass their panic. I was hoping he would go far enough to get the rear. We will have to check next turn, it is close.

On the right, his hero charges out of the knights and into my knights. Kills 2, but I do a wound back to him despite his 1+ save and 4+ ward. I win by 1 and he holds.

In the middle. Nurgle knights into my knights with hero front. Khorne knights into knights with hero flank. Ouch.

I challenge and the Nurgle hero accepts. We both have Enchanted shield. He has the blade of blood to my Rending sword. With 0+ armor save he manages 2 wounds and I pass both of them. Then on my turn, 4 hits, 0 wounds!! Uggh!!
His knights then completely kill every knight I have. My marauder is killed by the spawn. My exalted needs insane courage but cannot get it, is broken and run down.
When his khorne knights spin to pursue, they overlap my khorne knights that just killed his famine spawn and pursue into my knights.

My turn 3: On the left my knights charge his Famine knights. We measure it and I'm in the flank. He swings first but only kills 1 knight. I get 2 wounds on the Famine hero killing her, breaking the unit and running them down.

On the right my hero moves over to join combat. He challenges and I accept. I go first and kill his hero and general!!

Centigors turn around and them and 10 Dogs of war all shoot at the death knights killing 1.

In the middle. I try to charge the flank of the War knights fighting my knights. His pestilence knights are in the way and I fail the charge. I rally the other horsemen, who run around a bit.

In combat, both sides armor holds up very well. We each kill 1 guy. Combat is a draw.

His turn 4:
On the left he has nothing. On the right the knights decide they might as well take their chances, they charge the Dogs of War in front of them who flee. My general and his unit are smacking their lips.

In the middle his death spawn spins and charges my knights in the flank on the left side. We both fail to do any wounds. I win combat so I turn my knights to be in a line facing him.
His pestilence knights charge my marauders who flee. Then enemy in the way the next horsemen who flee. He catches the first set.

In combat, his hero goes nuts and I lose the rest of my khorne knights.

My turn 4: My general and unit charge the Death knights in the flank. His champion is on that side, so that is all I can kill. He holds.

Combat in the middle again no wounds, I win with numbers and banner and expand my frontage.
The Centigors turn around and move towards the center. Both Dogs of War cav move to the center.
The horsemen rally, and move up and throw at the pestilence knights doing nothing.

His turn 5: With his army quickly crumbling he makes the worst possible dice roll in the game. His khorne hero goes stupid because of the helm of many eyes. And they move up 3.5".
his pestilence knights charge the horsemen who flee again. Almost off the table, but not quiet.

The death knights are no match for my general as he chops down 2. The last one runs off the table with my general in hot pursuit.

My turn 5: This is a huge turn. I declare no charges and measure from my Khorne knights that just defeated his death spawn and it is just under 14". So they plow into the flank of the knights that had gone stupid just the turn before. If not for the stupid roll, he moves or turns or something.

So I slam into the flank. And in an outstanding display of armor saves, neither of us takes a wound. I win by 1, and he holds. His banner of eternal frenzy keeps him frenzied.

For the rest of my army, the horsemen rallied and run to the flank of the pestilence knights. Dogs of War move up. Lots of missile shots at the pestilence knights but again a flurry of armor saves keeps him alive.

I move my general and his knights up to capture the top right table quarter.
Centigors decide they are not really needed, get drunk and then stupid.

His turn 6: His Hero swaps place with the champion so he is in combat with my knights. His pestilence knights turn to face my fast cav.

He gets to go first, and in a continuing barrage of great armor saving throws he kills none.
My knights with their 8 attacks do a wound to the mighty hero of war. And then my chaos steeds, drag him down and killing him.

I win combat by 4, so he needs a 4 or less to stay and he gets it!!

My turn 6. I don't do a lot. My Centigors go from stupid drunks to mean drunks but because they cannot see out of the woods cannot charge.

The rest of the cav moves around to capture table quarters and line up their shooting.

A hail of 10 arrows and 5 axes and more great armor saves and I don't kill any again.
That is one set of tough knights.

Finally in combat I get to swing first. With my 8 knight attacks I manage 4 wounds and he fails 2 saves. So only the champion is left. My Chaos steeds then manage 1 wound. So needing a 3+ he rolls the 1 and the unit is destroyed.

Here is the final positions of all the units:

Overall a great game. I was up by several hundred points as he only had about 400-450 points on the board while I still had over 1100 points left. Not to mention I had captured 3 banners to his 1, killed his general and had 3 extra table quarters, giving me a total of a 1300 point massacre.

My fast cav units worked fantastic. I still made a couple mistakes with them when I charged his knights with them, and let the spawn charge me.
My centigors did me no favors, going frenzy on turn 1 for the front charge on the slaanesh knights and hero. And then going stupid hurt them. But the knights, Dog of War fast cav and that 1 unit of marauders really tore up, harassed and tied up units just the way they are supposed to.

Fast cav with the ability to flee a charge, rally, move and still shoot is almost sick. I never failed a single rally test and they were worth their weight in gold.

I think what gave me the massacre was his Khorne Knights and hero going stupid on turn 5. That set me up for a great flank charge. He drug it out a couple rounds but in the end the flankers prevailed.

If you read this far, I hope you enjoyed it.

Until next time...

Its time for a Christmas Trees

Oh, sorry I meant Holiday Tree, oh no I meant Seasonal Tree. Oh sorry I meant, oh hell I meant to say whatever PC crap they are throwing against the wall again.

Actually what I really meant was Christmas Tree. Yes it is that time of year where CHRISTIANS celebrate their 2nd most important(I really think Easter is a more important holiday, but that is a debate for another day)holiday.

Since over 75% of the US population identifies themselves as Christians don't you think the other 25% should step aside and let us have our damn holiday. If you are offended at me or my town or anyone putting up something religious, then I'd say get a little bit thicker skin and don't worry about it.

No one is putting up anything to rub it in your face. They are putting it up for the 75 to 80% of the people who want it. Sorry, so sad, too bad.

I get so sick and tired of reading about how cities, universities and businesses are taking down Christmas trees because 1 person out of 10,000 complain that they don't like it. Well, too bad, go get a life.

I get so sick and tired of businesses caving into these idiots with too much time on their hands and change the names of Christmas Trees to something less religious. WTF!!

I mean really, give me a break. So you don't want to insult the 1 guy but you are willing to insult the 80% of us who do want a Christmas tree with lights in our City square. We do want our Christmas Trees to be called Christmas Trees when we go to the store.

Separation of Church and state means 2 things.
1. The government cannot stop you from practicing any religion you want to. (As long as it doesn't involve other crimes, such as bigamy or human sacrifice.) You can still be that religion, you just cannot carry out those crimes.

and
2. The government cannot force you to practice a particular religion. This was the case of them wanting to make sure nothing like the Church of England popped up here. A church of the US. Even though I think they are forcing us into the church of Liberalism with all this PC crap. But I am diverging.

Just because a city hall puts up a Christmas Tree with lots of colored lights and even a Nativity scene. Does NOT mean they are forcing anyone to become a Christian. I believe the inquisitions stopped several hundred years ago.

If you don't like it, complain that they are waisting your tax dollars, not that you are offended. Because give me a break, how the hell are you offended by this. Give me one good reason that makes you offended. I just don't believe there is one.

If your a minority in this religious time, then go about your business and leave the rest of us the HELL alone.

Sorry this rant was brought to you by Soap Boxes R Us.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Coming tomorrow, another Battle Report, the Twins of Khorne verse the 4 Horsemen.

Until next time...

Movie Reviews

Today I'm going to review 2 movies. The first one I watched 2 weekends ago called "Knocked Up." And the 2nd one I watched this weekend "The Greatest Game Ever Played."

Knocked Up is a 2007 film staring Seth Rogan and Katherine Heigl. It is a Judd Apatow film, the same director as 40 year old virgin. If you enjoyed it, you will enjoy this and if you didn't enjoy 40 year old virgin you won't like this one either.

I can't say much about this movie that has not already been said,it is very well known, involves sex in a comical way and has way too many F-bombs dropped through out the entire movie. Especially as you get towards the middle to end of the movie where it appears the writers ran out of material and weren't sure what to do with the characters, so lets have a big fight, drop a bunch of four letter words and we will jump 3 months to the end when everyone gets back together out of desperation and they all live happily ever after.

I found the plot very predictable, well except for the insane side trip to Vegas, which added nothing to the movie. The dialog was very predictable. And the actors were as well. Its still a funny movie that gave me a good laugh.

Katherine is just super hot. Why this girl is still doing TV I have no idea? But the fact that they couldn't get her to take her bra off even during the sex scenes was very disappointing. Not so much because I want to see her breasts, even though I do, it just looked so fake. There was plenty of flesh jiggling around to appease the young under 22 male crowd, so the only reason she left her bra on was because she said she wouldn't take it off.

So next time Judd, if your making an R rated sex movie, get an actress who doesn't mind going shirtless.

The 2nd movie is an older 2005 movie called the Greatest Game Ever Played. This is a little known film starring Shia LaBeouf, quickly becoming one of my favorite actors, and Stephen Dillane. It was directed by Bill Paxton and is about the true story of the 1913 US Open Golf tournament.

So first off if you hate golf, don't bother. But if you are a fan of the game, or just enjoy sports movies, I highly recommend this film. The story is about the great legend of the game Harry Vardon and a young kid Francis Ouimet (pronounced "we-met").

Harry Vardon won 6 English Open Championships, which is a record still held today. And he won the US open in 1900. At the time he was considered the greatest golfer alive.

Francis Oiumet actually got to meet Vardon on his US tour in 1900 and idolized him. In 1913, when Francis was 20 years old, he played in the US open and faced off against his childhood hero Vardon.

While this movie drags at times, especially at the beginning, in the end you cannot sit still as Paxton does an outstanding job of building up the tension of the tournament. So if you can fight your way through some of the slow parts and the never ending reminder of the class system back in the 1900's, there is a great payoff at the end.

Until next time...

Battle Report: Twins of Khorne vs Empire

I ran into an Empire player the other day and we played a 1500 point battle.

My army was:
Exalted hero of khorne gaze of gods, Sword of might, on chaos steed
Exalted hero of khorne rending blade, enchanted shield on chaos

5 chaos knights of khorne, standard, mus, warbanner
5 chaos knights of khorne, standard, mus
5 chaos marauder horsemen, flails, throwing axes, mus
5 chaos marauder horsemen, flails, throwing axes, mus

6 centigors, spears, throw axes, shields, mus
6 centigors, spears, throw axes, shields, mus

5 DoW fast cav, bows shields, mus

His list:
Priest on horseback, 2+ armor save
2 lvl 2 mages rod of power

6 knights, Inner circle, mus, banner, warbanner, priest in here
5 knights
5 knights
10 handgunners both mages in here
10 crossbowmen
5 outriders
cannon
and of a course a Steam Tank

Here was a picture of the setup:

Turn 1, moves his handgunners up. Stank gens 4 steam and moves up.
Priest casts immune to psych on his unit. let it go. Casts Dark hand at my horsemen on generals right, dispel. Cast again, he kills 3. I make panic test.
Xbowmen then kill 2 horsemen on generals left, they fail panic, roll 17" and are off the board.
Cannon missed.

Great, they were supposed to get in the stanks way.

Here is the field after his turn 1:

My turn 1:DoW fast cav move as fast as they can to get in Stanks way, but don't do a very good job.
Everyone else moves up. Centigors, never fail a drunk test except 1, so if I don't mention it, we passed.
Shoot bows at handgunners and kill 1.

Empire Turn 2:
Stank gens 5 points, passes, and charges generals unit in the flank. Ouch, I'm waiting for him to measure but he never does, just moves it. I mention and he puts the ruler there and says, see I got it. Its all in cm's so I have no idea, but it looked like it was much closer than he made it out to be.

Magic kills 1 of the 2 horsemen, but he makes panic test. So handgunners kill him.
Crossbowmen kill 2 of the DoW fast cav, who fail panic and flee.
Outriders shoot at far right centigors and kill 3, but they pass their panic test.
Cannon kills one of the knights in the far left chaos knight unit.
Stank just mows down chaos knights with general, leaving the general alone. He fails his insane courage and runs a long way.

Chaos Turn 2: Things are definitely not looking good.
I charge 5 knights with 3 centigors. If I can kill 1, I win combat as he does not have a musician.
4 knights with hero on left charge baiting knights, who flee and run off the board. But my 7" move keeps me out of range of his IC knights. Sweet.

My general rallies, my DoW fast cav rally. My last centigors, move 16" through the woods and right to the flank of the handgunners.
in combat the centigors whiff, knights whiff, I lose by 1, break and am run down.

Empire Turn 3: He is loving this.
Stank 4 points into general, oh, but he is just short. Sweet.
he turns his knights around to charge my general. The ones that just overran the centigors.

dark hand at centigors, dispel. Again, I have to let it go as he rolls a 13. he kills none!!! sweet.

Shooting: crossbowmen kill 2 DoW fast cav, last one panics and runs off the board.
hand gunners shoot at general, 1 wound I save.
He moved 1 wizard in front of the handgunners, and the other behind them. Not sure why.
Cannon hits 2nd hero, and without a look out sir, is killed.

Chaos Turn 3: Centigors into flank of handgunners who hold. (???) not sure why.
General into wizard who ran out into the middle. He flees and is cut down by the centigors. General fails his charge.
Knights just turn to face IC knights but stay out of their charge range.

Centigors kill 3, break them and pursue 12" right into the flank of the crossbowmen. 2nd wizard panics and runs off the board.

Empire Turn 4: 5 knights into general's rear. Ouch. I think about it a long time and hold. He is 1 cm out. Wow!! so failed charge. Stank does 4 points turns and shoots at general with steam and handgun. Fails to do anything.
He moves his outriders closer to the middle but afraid of my general stays behind the woods.

And here I dont' understand, moves his IC knights up right in my chaos knights face, forcing me to charge.

Cannon fails to wound.
In combat I kill 2 of the crossbowmen, who fail their break are caught and with my 10" move I'm right behind the IC knights. About that time the cursing breaks out.

Chaos Turn 4: Knights into front of IC knights, centigors into rear.
general moves into the woods and turns to face 5 knight unit.

In combat I kill 2 knights, he kills 2 centigors, I win by 2 and he breaks and gets away, but we were angled and he ran off the table. Knights chase him off, centigors don't make it off.

Empire Turn 5: Tries to get 5 steam points, rolls the 6 and takes a wound.
5 knights charge general, who holds.
cannon kills 1 centigor who do not panic.

in combat the knights whiff. The general does only a single wound and he saves it. I lose by 1, break and just get away.

Chaos Turn 5: Centigors turn around and move up towards cannon.
Knights come back on but cannot do anything so move to capture table quarter and keep front arc to cannon.
General rallies and faces knights again.

Empire Turn 6: knights charge general. Stank gens 4 points, rolls another 6 and ends up with 2 wounds on it.
Cannon kills a knight.
Outriders shoot at centigors, but are just out of range. Sweet.

In combat, knights whiff, general does 3 wounds. with a 4+ save, he makes 2 and its a tie. Damn.

Chaos Turn 6: Centigors go frenzy. Charge cannon who flee?? I kill the cannon.

In the generals combat I go first and again cause 3 wounds, and 1 from my horse. He makes all 4 saves!?!? Damn. He does a wound but I save easily.

I lose by 1, and needing a 7 not to break, I get it!!! Sweet.

he has 2 table quarters (can the Stank claim one?) And I had 1 plus his general. We both captured a standard.

When it was done he was up by about 120 vp.

So a draw.

In turn 3 I was about ready to concede, the centigors going nuts through the middle of his field and his dice going cold and then the bonehead move of moving the IC knights up, let me pull it to a draw.

Good game, and it showed me this all cav army has a lot more resilience than I gave it credit for.

Until next time...

A Thanksgiving Weekend to remember

I had one of the best long Thanksgiving weekends I have ever had in my life.

It started off with my taking Wednesday off so I had a full 5 day weekend.

I didn't do a lot Wednesday but relaxed, worked on my army, got in a game of Warhammer against my worst possible line up with my current army and still managed to pull out a draw when I was ready to concede in turn 3. What a great game.

Thanksgiving day, I made my now very much loved fruit salad and went to my Sister In Laws house. Here we relaxed, watched football, ate way too much. Watched the Cowboys just destroy the Jets, and ate more food. Everyone had a great time and the turkey was excellent.

Friday was the worst day, as it was a day of cleaning. Got the house cleaned up and ready for Saturday. Still got to work on my army and watched a bit of TV.

Saturday was a very special day. It is November 24th, which is my Anniversary. But this year was a bit more, as I joined the Catholic church and my wife and I were married in the church and given its blessing. It was a very special day as family came.

I went to pick up the sandwiches and flowers from Kroger at 9:40. Everything was supposed to be ready at 10. The wedding was to be at 11. I still had to go home and put my suit on. Well the sandwiches were ready to go, as they were putting the last ones together. But no flowers, no flower girl and no idea what was going on.

We were about ready to give up on the flowers when the florist walks in at 10:15. She had run out of baby's breath. Those little bitty white flowers you get with everything. So she says it will take her 10 minutes to make them. I go ahead and pay for everything so as soon as she is done I can run out with them. Well 20 minutes later she finally finishes. Ugghhhh!!! It's already 10:35 and I have to be at the church by 11.

I rush home, only to hit every red light and have a police car follow me. Great, just what I need. I get home, change into my suit in a hurry and we rush to the chapel.

The priest is more than great. He even tells us to take some time to relax and prepare ourselves. So we have a very nice wedding mass that was very personable and special to me.

We then went home and had a nice light lunch of sandwiches.
Everyone left pretty quick and my oldest son Andrew took Tim for the night. Marilyn and I wanted to go play some golf, but cold wet and rainy prevented that. So instead we broke out the Wii and bowled and played golf, I hit my first hole in one in my life and was very pleased. Marilyn made it a tough match and I only beat her by 1 stroke.

We watched a lot of movies including Austin Powers, Yea BABY!! Battle Star Galatica Razor and The Greatest Game ever played. All 3 really good. I grilled up Steaks to go with baked potatoes and corn on the cob and a nice white zinfendel wine. Very excellent evening.

Sunday led to more laying around, watched a bit of football. Got to play another game of Warhammer online with my new army and won with a massacre and got to work on my army some more. It is really coming along now. Getting to the point where all there is left is to paint.

And add on that I won my Fantasy Football League game against the only guy that had beaten me this year, and am now 11-1 and clinched a playoff spot in my Fantasy league.

But the best part was got to talk to my son in Iraq 3 times this weekend. He is doing great, as he got to escort several big stars and the New England Cheerleaders around. I'm really proud of him.

This weekend, I had to stop several times and just thank God for all the things in my life to be thankful for.

Until next time...

A Day of Thanks

While there are some idiot teachers out there that want to teach Thanksgiving day as a day of sadness and mourning for the Native American Indians and what the new American Settlers did to them after befriending them, I for one do not give into this propaganda.

Being part Native American myself I can say that I still love America and everything it has become.

Its not like the Pilgrims split bread with the local tribes and then celebrated this as Thanksgiving day every year. This came many years afterwards as a day for everyone to stop, look around and be thankful for the plentiful bounty most of us in America have.

I know I cannot complain about anything. I have a great wife who lets me play Warhammer, most of the time. I have 3 wonderful sons, 1 with a degree from UTA and working for Seimans, 1 in the Air Force serving in Iraq and 1 special needs child, that is the light of my life.

I have a great job, a wonderful house, good health and enough money to blow on things when I like.

I can look around, and truly say I am happy and satisfied.
And I thank God for all of this.

Even if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, take a moment tomorrow and look for the things you can be thankful for, and give thanks. You will not be sorry.

Here is hoping everyone has a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving Day.
Go Cowboys!!

Until next Time...

Quest for the ultimate Wii game

I have been looking for a Wii game that I think would be the most awesome game this side of DOOM from back in the 90's.

Unfortunately, there is nothing out there that fits this game design and I just cannot believe no one has jumped all over this.

What is Wii best at? You being the one actually doing the movements, and experiencing the sights and sounds up front and close up. So why this hasn't been developed yet is just beyond me.

If you read this and know of such a game please comment and let me know what it is.

Game Genre: 1st Person Fantasy Adventure.
Multi-player support: Yes, up to 4 players.

The basic D&D adventure type game similar to the Eye of the Beholder series that was put out some time ago. With a few exceptions.

1. You can have up to 4 players. Quadrant the screen, each player is looking at their 1st person perspective.
2. Independent play. Allow each player to go off and do what they want. So if the thief wants to scout up ahead then let him. While the fighters and mages stay back.
3. Real movements: To perform certain feats you need 2 things. First you character must have the skill feat to perform the move, then you must actually do it with the controllers. Swinging a sword is pretty easy. But doing the whirlwind attack means you have to perform a certain move with the controllers.
3b. Mages, must perform sequence movements with their controllers to cast spells. I'd go with a manna system, so someone could cast the same spell over and over. Make magic worth the effort, very powerful. But if you are disrupted, or get it wrong, manna is still lost.
Area affect spells would affect, everyone.
4. Multiple classes: Allow for mages, fighters, archers, rogues, healers, etc.. Characters could even pick up skills from other classes. But the system doesn't matter a lot.
5. Outstanding graphics and sounds. Make it look like you are walking into a real dungeon. Walls, lights etc...
6. Independent visuals: What this means, is that if an elf or dwarf is walking down a dark corridor, they would see the monster with their infra-vision, so it would be a cool red object. While someone without infravision, would just see a dark shadow moving up ahead. A elf walking by a secret door has a chance to see it. Outline it for him, but no one else. If there was reading to be done, then someone with the read skill would see words, while someone without would see garbled letters.
7. Traps: If a character hits a trap, then have a click sound and have the controller vibrate, of the guy who set it off. Then by jumping or ducking, they might be able to avoid the trap.
8. Smart monsters. I know game designers make monsters tougher by adding hit points and increasing AC, but there are very good ID algorithms that could be implemented. So if a player finds a particular move that works all the time, maybe a monster could learn to block it. Set up for ambushes. Allow players to ambush monsters if they find the secret door that goes around the back of the bad guys.

Anyway, I think you get the idea. A first person, hack and slash/magic game with great graphics and sounds.

So if you know of such a game for the Wii system, let me know. I think this game would be awesome.

Until next time...

Centaur Army Update

Now that all the models are assembled, it is time to move forward. Unfortunately, just as I was finishing the very last model I ran out of Super glue. I had 2 pieces still to glue on.

A frantic search led me to an old bottle of super-glue that the cap had completely dried up and I was unable to get any out of the tip. About to throw it away, I took out a pin and poked the back end of the bottle. Ahhh, that precious clear fluid that I needed. (stop with the dirty minds already. ;-) )
And was able to finish up the army.

I started working on movement trays next. Without the super glue to put on edges, I cut out the bases and applied the magnetic paper on them. Still need to do the edges, but that can come later. So I got all 12 of those done over the weekend. At this point I feel I could travel with the army and not have it fall apart. I need to get a metal bottom carry case still. I think I will just get a plastic storage case like I normally do and cut out a metal sheet to stick to the bottom. That should keep them in place while I travel. I can get sheet metal at Lowes pretty cheap and use double sided tape to stick it to the bottom. Get some tin snips to cut it to fit the plastic case.

So next up is to finish up the green stuff. I got about half of them done, need to do the other half. Then I can base and prime them, ready for the painting.

Plan on putting some time into them this weekend. With any luck at least part of them will be primed by the end of this weekend.

Until next time...

Movie Review: The Invisible

Last Saturday I got a chance to sit down and watch "The Invisible."

A very nice played out movie that had its moments with enough paranormal to catch my interest.

The gist of the plot is that the 2 main characters Annie Newton, played by Margarita Levieva, and Nick Powell played by Justin Chatwin, get into a fight. Annie ends up killing Nick and hiding the body.

The next morning it takes Nick awhile to realize what has happened and gets to observe the actions of people around him who cannot see him. A bit of an eye opener. Due to the help of a bird, he realizes, he is not really dead, just near death.

So over the next couple of days he tries his best to communicate with whomever and finally realizes Annie can hear him. She eventually helps the police find the body and saves him.

The plot of the movie is fairly predictable, until the very end, that I won't give away. It could end one of 2 ways, and you are really hoping for one. But the plot has little to do with the actual story being told. The story is really about the lives of these 2 teenagers. Nick is in a very wealthy family and his father dies. His mother, played by Marcia Gay Harden, then smothers him in an attempt to hold onto him, using any means necessary including guilt. He is convinced she does not really love him and is only holding onto him as a way to hold onto her dead husband. She puts in an adequate performance, with one really good scene.

Annie on the other hand had her mother die. Her father, who was a cop, remarries and for reasons unknown, becomes a security guard. He expects the new wife to take care of the kids, but she really has no interest in Annie or her very young brother Victor. Annie cannot stand the new step-mom and just does enough to make sure Victor is taken care of and then selfishly leaves every night to meet up with here ex-con and active criminal boyfriend.

The Story then does a fantastic job on showing the similarities between the two and the underlining love-story that pops out between these two is very real even though they never said more than a dozen words between each other. The two begin to understand each other as Annie's cold as steel personae struggles with the guilt of showing the police where the body is. Everything comes to a head as Annie's boyfriend moves the body and Annie has a stand off forcing him to tell her where the body is.

This part of the movie is fantastic and well worth the price of renting the DVD. But there were many parts of the movie and the story that were left unanswered and confusing. The best friend Pete, played by Chris Marquette of Joan of Arcadia, did a half decent job of acting, but I've seen him do better.
Annie had two friends, that did most of her dirty work, roughing up people for her, etc.. There was no explanation of this trio relationship and seemed faked and contrived to have a bad girl be able to bully people. I can only think she must have been servicing both of them or paying them to get their loyalty. But it shows neither and leaves you wondering why they would hang around psycho chic.

And I felt the boyfriend party could have just as easily been played by one of the 2 bullies. Instead this makes a whole new twist, that didn't make a lot of since. He is out on parole, sleeping with an under age girl and stealing cars with her. He gets pissed and calls the cops on her??? This started the whole mess of Attacking Pete and then Nick. I think a boyfriend and best friend would have made a more convincing story line, than just 2 guys who beat up people for this girl.

Many of the actors besides the two main characters seemed drab and unconvincing. But this offset the 2 very fine performances by Justin, please get an new haircut, and Margarita. I can see her doing a lot more in the future.

She is a fairly new comer to the big screen coming off the TV series Vanished and with another half dozen TV appearances. I expect some big things from her in the future.

I gave The Invisible 3 stars out of 5.

Coming up next week. Comedy time with Knocked Up.

Until next time...

Murder She Wrote Syndrome

I was going to write my weekly review of my fav TV shows. But I can't say anything new other than what I usually write. There are 3 really great shows on and I watch them, Heroes, Chuck and Pushing Daisies. All 3 are extremely good, original and make me look forward to TV for 3 hours a week.

So you might be asking, what the hell does that have to do with Murder She Wrote?

Something happened in Chuck that reminded me of Murder She Wrote. Don't get me wrong, I was never a fan of MSW. I watched maybe a half dozen episodes, but my wife liked it. And one of the reasons I never liked it was the way she would stumble onto a murder scene wherever she went. Go the theater, murder. Go on a trip out of town, murder. Get stuck in a traffic accident, murder. Death followed, or maybe I should say she followed Death everywhere it went.

I hate it when shows try to come up with these creative ways to get involved in things other than a normal person would. Example. I've been on this Earth, already for a large number of years. And never in all my years have I ever witnessed, been a part of, or even gone to an event, where a murder actually takes place.
In the Navy, I actually heard about one several days after they found the body, and they ruled it a suicide, when it obviously wasn't. So I guess my Angela Ladsbury side could have jumped to the rescue.

But even if you double all of my instances of 1, you get 2. Not 100+ like some shows do it.

In Chuck, it was kind of a double whammy this week. As he and his sister left a restaurant, they not only stumbled across the guy dieing from poison (ie, murder victim) he also was a top secret really bad guy that Chuck flashed on.

Now this all could have been arranged much cleaner with a simple phone call, saying the guy is nearby and wanting to turn himself in, yadda, yadda, yadda. Instead the writers want you to believe they just happened upon him. Ok, I'll give them one.

Now Chuck gets a little easier time in my opinion, as he could flash on anyone walking down the street, that we would totally ignore.

But this is twice in 3 weeks that they have done this. Two weeks ago Chuck flashes on the guy playing video games with his best friend. Not just some other guy who happens to be nearby. But the one in a bet with his friend. And now this.

I hate writers who feel like they have to shove characters into these kinds of things. Get a little imagination and try not to have your characters fall face first into the crime scene every damn week.

Give me a break. What pet peeves do you have about script writers?

Until next time...

What a Great Deal

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my wife has decided to take up golf. I use to play some years ago, so I dusted off the old clubs and we headed out.

Unfortunately, my wife did not have her own set. To start this wasn't a big deal as I just had her use my 5 iron for everything except putting. This will get her comfortable with one club. Then expand out.

Well a friend of mine read this blog and told me of a deal he saw at his local Walmart. They had a set of Woman's golf clubs that included:
Driver, 3 wood, a 4 hybrid, iron set of 5,6,7,9, pitching wedge and sand wedge. A putter. Very nice golf bag with travel cover. And covers for the 2 woods.

All of this, for only $50. I couldn't believe it. It was regularly $130, but they had ordered too many and were trying to clear off 3-4 really quick. Well I relieved them of 1 set last night. I was really surprised at the quality of the bag and clubs. I was expecting something cheap, but when I got them home and we opened them up, I was downright jealous and wanted to get me a new set.

So yes, great deals are still out there if you look around enough. This was an awesome deal.

Until next time...

Pennies for the Poor

How sorry is this?

The company I work for is a small R&D group that when I started had a dozen people. Now we are up to double that. It has been a tough year profit wise as we expanded our building, hired new people and are trying to catch up with the demand of our product.

Our parent company is a very large manufacturing business in upstate NY. It does a pretty steady business. They hold 2-3 very large company parties and picnics each year. We don't do anything like that down here except for our once a year Christmas dinner.

So this year, they announced our annual Christmas dinner. But oh yea, meals will not be complimentary.

HUH!!??

So after I spend 40-60 hours a week with my co-workers all year long, I'm supposed to take a Sunday evening/day, as it starts at 4PM, and go to a dinner with my co-workers and my wife at a very upscale restaurant, and I have to pay for it myself.

Why the HELL would I want to do this?? If I want to take my wife out for dinner, I'll just take her. If I want to drop $60-$80 for a meal, I'll do that. But as my company Christmas party?? Are you fucking out of your head???

Its not that I don't enjoy spending time with some of these guys, I do. But give me a break? I spend enough time with them, why the hell should I blow my whole Sunday to spend with them as well when all I get out of it, is the joy of their company, that I get every day of the damn year.

To me this is the epitome of cheap and is a slap in the face to those of us who work for this company.

Until next time...

Posting?? Weekend update

Sorry I haven't posted since Thursday last week. Things have been super hectic and I haven't really had a chance.

And to be honest, not a whole lot going on.

Been trying to get my League in order. Looks like we will have close to 40 players in it this year.

Chaperoned my son's school dance Friday night.

Went to play golf on Saturday. I have not been in several years and managed about a bogey round at 20 over and managed a couple of pars. Had a great time, beautiful weather and will be going back soon.

Saturday night saw the movie Invisible. I'll do a review of it in a day or so.

Sunday was Buddy walk time. This one pissed me off a bit as the letter that said where to meet was wrong, and we were rushing around trying to find our group. Tim was supposed to be in the signing choir and we found them just as they were getting up on stage. Tim doesn't like to be rushed anywhere, so we sat out. Too bad as he really wanted to do it.

We did do the mile walk and enjoyed the weather. The sponsor said there would be 4 cars along the course stocked with bottled water. So we didn't bother to bring any with us. Turns out, no water anywhere along the course. Made for some hot, tired, irritable walkers.

Then of course the Cowboys. HOW ABOUT THEM COWBOYS!! Man I love being a fan of theirs.

On the Warhammer front, I got 3 more centaur models assembled over the weekend, leaving me only 2 left to finish assembling the whole army. After that I need to build the other 11 movement trays, green-stuff the miniatures to fill in cracks, etc.. Base them with sand, prime them and finally paint them all.

Tried working on them some Saturday night after about 3/4 of a bottle of wine. Not a smart move as I almost sliced my thumb off with a razor blade.

Well, thats it for now.

Until next time...

Kittens, oh what a curse

The most adorable creatures on God's Earth has got to be the kitten. As of today they are a full 2 weeks old. They opened their eyes about a week ago and are starting to get around.

Their mom hates it when we let them out of the closet and they start to crawl around our study. She will yell at us and drag them back into the closet.

While we are still looking for a good home, it looks now like we might just keep them. I hate to have five, yea I said FIVE, cats in my house. But I am not seeing us dumping these kittens into a store or shelter.

The 2 of them, are never far apart and are usually on top of one another. But in this pic they are just curled next to each other:

Then we had to take them out so here are some other pics.
This one we are still looking for a name for. Not sure if its male or female yet:

And finally this is Tiger. He/She is not quite as strong as its sibling, but tries really hard to keep up with him. I believe Tiger was the 2nd kitten born of the 2 and doesn't adventure nearly as far out as its brother/sister. And I have to admit it, Tiger is my favorite.

So if you can think of a good kitten name for the 1st one, let me know.

Until next time...

Halloween Parties, oh bother

As I posted before, the wife, son and I were invited to a Halloween party this year. I have never been a big party guy if the party didn't have something behind it. But these were friends of ours who said they had this party every year.
So I figure its going to be a good time. Their son is probably our son's best friend and so how can we say no.

We had decided on the Stargate SG-1 team as our theme costume and went about the chore of getting everything together and made them.
The party was moved back one week due to an illness, which actually worked out better for us anyway. The start time was 7:30 and we decided to try and be on time. As usual we were about 10 minutes late and came in at 7:40. They had great decorations in the house from bloody foot prints to blood dripping down the walls to a little castle thing you had to walk through to get in that made scary noises.

As it turned out we were the first ones there and the only ones there until about 8:30 when the rest of the guests started showing up. This was OK as it gave us a chance to spend with our friends without them having to be hosts.

But later as the other guests arrived, our Host and Hostess were pulled in many directions. Leaving us basically to fend for ourselves. And while the Margaritas were good, and all the food was great. I remember why I'm not a big fan of parties.
For one, I knew no one else there. Two, we had almost nothing in common with any of the other people there.
Everyone was nice and polite, but when the party revolves around drinking and talking with strangers, I can think of a lot of other things I'd rather be doing.

Tim did have a great time, hanging out with is best friend, even if none of the other kids would have anything to do with the 2 of them. Your basic kids discriminating against the kids that are different. Nothing new there. It didn't seem to bother the 2 of them and they probably had the best time of anyone at the party.

The highlight of the party besides the first hour of getting to just talk with our friends, was they did hold a costume contest and we won. They held one for the adults and one for the kids.

To be honest there were very few adults in costume. Why come to a costume party, not in costume? And the kids contest was pretty split up, with Tim getting a couple of votes. But he didn't win.

We won a very nice bottle of wine, and a Halloween mug that changes as it gets hot.

So while there were a few good times, about and hour and a half was walking around making small talk with people I have never seen before, and if I ever see them again, it will probably only be at next years party.
What are you going to do? No wonder people are all hermits and recluse inside.

Here is our award winning costumes. Yea I know it looks like Marilyn had a bit too much to drink already, but I don't think she had had any when this pic was taken.

And here is a pic of Tim with his best friend in his costume. Which I thought was outstanding, but he only wore it about 5 mins for the whole night. Hard to blame him. But it does look cool.

Until next time...

Chuck and Heroes

Wow, what a 1-2 punch NBC has on Monday nights. Everyone else can just give it up, especially if Chuck ever gets the recognition it deserves.

I think I actually enjoyed Chuck more than Heroes last night. But both were just great.

We finally get to find out why Chuck was framed by Bryce and kicked out of Stanford. I thought it was a bit crude that they went to such extremes and ruined Chucks life, but Bryce did it to save Chuck from the CIA. It also showed their initial meeting and how they became friends to begin with. Chuck saves the day in the end when his 2 handlers are out-gunned and out-manned. And next week looks like super yummy Yvonne thinks its time to step up the relationship. But enter Rachel Bilson, a very hot chick who happens to also like Chuck. What is a guy to do?

Heroes of course delivered as very few shows ever do. Hiro escapes with the help of the princess Yaeko and then he goes back to defeat Kensei. Hiro then has to leave before he destroys history anymore. But in reality, he has actually set it on course as it should be. And Yaeko will pass down the stories of Kensei as a true hero.

Claire and her boyfriend, Wes, get close until Noah, aka Claire's Father, aka Horned Rim Glasses, comes home. Wes freaks and thinks its all a setup. Claire has been trying to tell him for sometime and just now gets it out. Is this the last we see of Wes? I doubt it. HRG, is totally pissed and ready to pack up and leave. Claire can be stubborn as well and refuses to go.

Suresh is having a very bad day as Matt Parkman and Nathan show up to save the day. Suresh admits to Bob that he is working with HRG to bring down the company. The guy is an idiot. Matt's Father is really the assassin killing people. But he is really just the strong man for a guy named Adam. Matt's father turns Niki and she attacks Suresh and goes after Bob and Nathan. He also traps Matt into the same nightmare that Molly is in. But Matt stretches his limits and pulls his father into the nightmare with them and then gets him and Molly out. Leaving his father trapped in his own nightmare and saving the day.
But Niki has the virus in a syringe and ready to give it to Bob. Nathan is able to talk her down, but she only stops herself by injecting herself with the virus. Only later does Suresh discover his blood does not work on this strain of virus. There is no cure.

Peter left off last week when he time traveled into the future one year to find out 93% of the population had been wiped out by a virus. (uh-oh!) He was taken for decontamination and tested but was clean. His mother then came into talk to him and gave him his memory back. He traveled back to the present, but without the girl from Ireland, she was left in the future. There he was met by Adam, who just happens to also have been Kensei!!

Wow!! what an ending? I loved it and it caught me totally by surprise. I cannot wait until next week. 1 hour for this show is not nearly long enough.

Until next time...

How about them Cowboys!!

Here we are half way through the season. 8 games into a 16 game schedule and the Cowboys are sitting very pretty at 7-1, and doing it in a very convincing manner.
I rate the Boys as the #1 team in the NFC. Their Offense with Romo, Witten and TO are unstoppable. The only team to slow them down was Buffalo. Romo had a horrible game and looked lost. He was good enough and lucky enough to bring them back. Their only loss came against the undefeated Patriots, and the New England D didn't slow them down, the Cowboys did that to themselves with Penalties. They are ranked 3rd in passing, 2nd in total yards and 2nd in points scored.

Dallas Defense is still suspect, but only against the pass. They shut down the best runner in the League, Adrian Peterson of the Vikings. They are ranked 5th in the league verse the run and 8th overall in yards allowed. They are 20th in points, but usually the Cowboys are so far ahead, teams are getting junk points at the end of games to make it look respectable against our 2nd stringers.

For the 2nd half I expect the Cowboys to do even better. Why?
1. Adding Tank Johnson in the middle to help plug things there. Ratliff is doing very good since Ferguson went down, but now you got a real force in there.

2. Our 2 DB's have never started a game together. Newman and Henry have both been out (1 of them) in every game this year. Henry finally made it back for dime package work last week and I expect him to start this week or next. And Jacques Reeves, meanwhile, has picked up some invaluable experience to be a great Nickle back. This will help Ware and Ellis pick up even bigger numbers than they are already starting to get in the sack category.

3. Terry Glen, where are you? With any luck, Glen will be back soon. His speed to stretch the field is sorely missed right now. (Yea, our O does have 1 weakness.) Once we get Glen back, watch the hell out. Defenses will be struggling to keep up with the Witten, Owens, Glen, Crayton and Fasano. Romo will be shooting fish in a barrel. Add in the fantastic job our Offensive Line is doing and Romo's ability to avoid pressure and I think we can even give Indy and the Pats a run for their money.

The only other teams even close are:
#2. Green Bay also at 7-1 and how, I have no idea. They keep finding a way to win, but they struggle through every game and you keep expecting them to lose. A tough team and with Farve at the helm you can never count them out. Their defense keeps them in games right now, but I think a good team will rip these guys a new one. They will play the Boys in a few weeks. Should be a good game.

#3. The Giants. Sitting just 1 game back at 6-2, they seem to be the biggest threat to the Cowboys from just running away with this. And actually may be the best bet to stop New England from getting an undefeated season in the last game. But they still have Dallas, Minnesota, Philly, Detroit and Washington left. So even a win against the Cowboys this Sunday doesn't win them the division. I expect them to end up 11-5 and 2 games behind the Boys and end up as the #1 wild card. Should still be a great game Sunday even though the Boys beat them pretty handily the first time. I expect a repeat.

#4. Detroit. Who'd thunk it. Which team is showing up this week. The team that rolled over Denver 44-7, or the ones that lost to a weak Philly team 21-56. Their 2 losses are really bad, but their wins are impressive. They are still looking at the Giants, Dallas, Green Bay twice, San Diego and a Minnesota team that will run over them. Detroit is on a precipice that will collapse soon. I expect them to lose at least 4 of those games. So a 9-7 or 10-6 record is about the best they can hope for and slip into the playoffs as a #3 wildcard and a quick exit out of the post season.

Looking ahead to the Dallas schedule the only teams that even give me pause at this point is the Giants this week and then Green Bay and Detroit. Washington always gives us a tough time in one of our games. So assuming 1 loss to the Redskins and 1 loss to the Giants, Pack or Lions and we end up with a 13-3 record and 1st place in the NFC, a first round bye at least get to the NFC championship game.

Looks like the road to the Superbowl is going to run through Dallas this year. Can we make it to a rematch with the Pats. That is a game I'd love to see.

Until next time...

Sci Fi, What the Hell?

My Sci-Fi Friday took a bad turn this last weekend. I just do not understand what the hell Sci-Fi channel is doing anymore.

I sat down for my usual 4 hour line up of Bionic Woman, Odyssey 5, Flash and Stargate. But when I flipped it over there, Stargate SG-1 was on instead of Bionic Woman. Hmmm, thats right, that show didn't air this week on CBS or NBC or whatever station it is also being shown on. No biggie, it was an episode I had not seen, so we watch some SG-1.

But Odyssey 5 is also not on. HMMMM??? Whats up with that? Flash and Stargate Atlantis are still on. TV guide said O-5 was supposed to be on. I remember previews being shown last week. What are they showing in its place? Another SG-1 episode. What the hell?? So up to my computer and the Sci-Fi channel forums. Seems lots of people are confused and trying to figure out what going on.

So back to the TV, maybe its a one week deal. Check next Friday's schedule, no O-5. Check the following week, no O-5. Back to the website. It looks like Sci-Fi channel, without warning, simply yanked the series. Damn, and I was getting into it. Typical Sci-Fi channel bullshit.

Found it hard to enjoy the rest of the evening, but managed to fight through it. So another show, canceled with no resolution.

Until next time...

Centaur Army Update

Last night with nothing on, I decided I needed to work on the Centaurs some more. With 2 units of 5 still to build, I walked into my game room ready to get started.

That was when I noticed one of my models laying on its side. Usually not that big a deal. I almost always have the door shut to keep the cats out of the room as Sparky has been known to decide he wants to build an army of his own, one miniature at a time. So he will grab models and run off with them to play. I'll find them later in all sorts of places. Well I figured a cat got in and knocked it over.

But as I went to pick it up, I noticed it wasn't knocked over it was broken. In fact, it was snapped at the point the front hoof is connected to the stand. Ugghh!! So I run downstairs to ask Marilyn and she fesses up. She did it. She was looking for the new kittens, yea they are not old enough to get far on their own, but their mom keeps moving them. Anyway, she knocked it off the table and it broke.

So I glued it back and also put a touch of glue on the rear leg. Its supposed to be up in the air, but I knew it wouldn't hold on just 1 any more. It looked like it held, so I showed it to Marilyn that I had fixed it, only to watch it fall right off, and the 2 arms pop off as well!!! Holy crap, what the hell is going on.

I decide more drastic measures are needed. So I find a small rock and glue it on the back end of the stand and put both rear legs on it, gluing them in place as well as the 1 front leg. This gives it a nice tripod stability and it looks like he is jumping over the rock. The arms were no problem and I filed the miniature glue points some.

I've noticed I've had a real problem with parts not staying glued on these Confrontation models. Not sure if its a coating issue or what. I've found if I file them some first, they hold much better.

I also managed to finish 2 more Marauder Centaurs as well leaving me only 8 more to finish up. I have a busy weekend coming up, but I'm hoping to get the rest of this unit of 5 finished by this weekend. So 3 more to make another full unit. I need to get these guys on their magnetic bases soon and in a movement bucket with metal bottom, to keep them from sliding around, and a lid to keep the dust, cats and stray wives away from knocking them over.

Until next time...

Heroes and More TV

My 3 favorite shows on TV right now, easily Heroes, Chuck and Pushing Daisies.

Heroes again delivered as it does every week. Suresh seems to have "turned" Bob around. Huh?? I don't buy that for one minute. HRG, is back to his old ways but fighting for the heroes now. Kills his old mentor and finds the paintings. Not much to go on there.
Claire and here new boyfriend get even with the head cheerleader and get Claire on the squad. Loved it. Sorry if it was a bit mean. ;-)
Syler gets the crap beat out of him. Always love that. The vigilanties at the border, which I'm guessing was a shot at the minutemen project came off poorly. Hiro screws up and kisses the girl. Big mistake as he again splinters history and is captured.
Peter shows up in Montreal and a note is waiting for him. Then he time travels with the Irish girl into the future one year to find out 90% of the world population is dead??? Wow, lets not just wipe out New York this year, lets take out the whole world. Should make for a great season.

Chuck is a great lead into Heroes and if you have not seen it yet, give it a try. You will not be disappointed. This week he screws up again and feels betrayed by his operatives and his friend. He gives up a chance for a promotion into management at Buy More to go save a bunch of lives. And in the end, saves the day. I think the cast is great and the writing is awesome. I'm just worried, how long they can keep this kind of story going. Eventually his intel becomes obsolete, they will build a new computer, etc... Can this show last more than 1 season. If so the writers need to figure out why they need Chuck more than the next super computer.

And finally, talk about a weird show. Pushing Daisies takes the cake. This Bryan Fuller creation is a very quirky show that pulls out all the stops to entertain. The writing is outstanding and the actors due a superb job in every one of their rolls. Whether it is Lee Pace as Ned, Anna Friel as Chuck, Emerson, Olive, the Aunts, to every bit player in the show.

In last nights episode the ghost of a jockey dead these 7 years has come back to kill the 4 riders that trampled over his body in the 2000 Jock Off and then covered up his murder. As it turned out, Olive was one of those 4 jockeys. This show borders on genius. Definitely check it out.

Until next time...
